Inflammation of the lining of bronchial tubes, which carry air to and from lungs is known as BRONCHITIS. People with bronchitis ended up with cough and thick mucus.
Bronchitis and pneumonia both are lung infection with almost similar symptoms that’s why it is very difficult to differentiate. However, the main difference is bronchitis affects the bronchial tubes that carry air to & from lungs whereas pneumonia affects the air sacs or alveoli where oxygen passes into blood.
Bronchitis is of two types:
ACUTE- Acute bronchitis is a short-term viral lung infection that cause inflammation of lungs and airways. It lasts for less than 3 weeks.
CHRONIC- When the symptoms of bronchitis last for more than 3 consecutive weeks it called as chronic bronchitis and it needs medical consultation immediately.
CAUSE:
The main risk for bronchitis is pollution and smoking but nonsmokers also can develop bronchitis as it can be caused by virus.
SYMTPOMS:
Symptoms may include-
Cough
Mucus production
Fatigue
Fever (may or may not be)
Shortness of breath
Chest discomfort
Lack of energy.
PREVENTION/TREATMENT:
Avoid smoking
Wear mask and wash hands often
If catch cold then take rest and stay away from others
Take vaccine to protect from flu.
