Pneumonia is a type of lung infection or inflammatory condition of lungs. Infection caused by various organisms such as bacteria, viruses and fungi.
Pneumonia occurs when the air sacs of lungs fill with fluid or pus due to infection.
Pneumonia can be mild to a life-threatening problem.
Risk Factors:
Pneumonia can affect anyone but some reasons make a person more susceptible to this:
New born babies or children below 2 years
People above 65
People with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, heart disease, sickle cell disease or bronchiectasis.
Weak immunity system
Smoking habit
Often having cough.
Complications:
Some common complications that may arise:
Bacteria might spread in bloodstream and cause infection to other organs.
If pneumonia patient having a pre-existing heart problem, then it may increase the risk of heart attack.
Lung abscess a pus-filled cavity in your lung surrounded by inflamed tissue.
Severe pneumonia might cause impaired breathing problem.
